Mike Vanderboegh is the blogger from the insane wing of the Republican party responsible for this gem: “To all modern Sons of Liberty this is your time. Break their windows. Break them NOW.” It’s a call to action that many see as the cause of this week’s threats and acts of vandalism against Democrats following final passage of the health care bill.

Vanderboegh continues, “[Democrats] certainly do not hear the soft “snik-snik” of cleaning rods being used on millions of rifle barrels in this country by people who have decided that their backs are to the wall, politics and the courts no longer are sufficient to the task of defending their liberties, and they must make their own arrangements.”

Vanderboegh’s Three Percenter movement “styles itself after the legendary 3 percent of American colonists who took up arms against the British,” according to Mother Jones.

All that’s completely loony, of course. But here’s the deepest irony: This guy, the one who hates government so much, lives on Social Security disability. That’s right, goverment checks. Rachel Maddow pointed this out, based on reporting from the Montgomery (AL) Advertiser, on her show Tuesday night.

Here’s the segment from Rachel’s show. It’s all relevant but the part specifically about this wackpot begins at about the 4 minute mark. I highly recommend giving it a listen. As Rachel notes, this is domestic terrorism and it needs to be consistently labeled as such. -AG

Does he have any idea that this kinda sounds like der Kristallnacht? You know… when the Hitler youth intimidated Jews by breaking windows and destroying property (synagogues, Jewish business, homes). Oh yeah, and shooting people. Hmmmm.
